While on an afternoon walk several weeks ago, I encountered this frog and we struck up a conversation. I asked if she would be willing to be interviewed on my upcoming Podcast, titled HELLO, SELF…. Much to my surprise she was delight to be asked and said she would hop right back to this very spot in a couple of minutes. Then she asked me to just wait here.
Well, she did hop back; and, she had added quite a fashion statement. Her new look was this classy red hat and a string of pearls she had strung around her neck. It’s obvious, she is a fashion diva, frog!! Definitely my kind of frog!
In the interview she shared some interesting information about the variety of symbols represented when encountering a frog. My curious self was all ears and could hardly wait for her wisdom. She continued… frogs represent a variety of symbols, both good and bad, but generally, they signify transformation, change, fertility, and prosperity. Having learned that, I decided that perhaps keeping a frog totem around may be a good idea.
Interestingly enough, I remembered that I had purchased a decorative purple frog years ago, at a local craft fair…. and, yes, you guessed it; she is a female and she sits at the front door entry to my home. Regardless of what influences us to get our dreams off that someday shelf; be it the reminder from a purple frog or some inspirational quote, it can be a magnet for keeping us focused. It is so easy to get lost in all the distractions we face moment by moment each day!
Tony Robbins says, “Influence is a pull, not a push. It’s not forceful. It’s magnetic. It’s a state of being. It’s a presence. There’s an ease to it, a naturalness.” And, Simon Sinek, highlights another great influence to staying focused. He says, it is important to remember our ‘why’ for pursuing a goal and dream. The ‘why’ can act as a nudge in bringing us back in focus when we lose sight of our intentions… and/or give up!
Taking a note from my most recent book, HELLO, SELF…; (link below) intention and awareness are clearly key starting points where a purposeful life and passion-driven career begin. So, if it is the presence of a frog, that provides a constant reminder… so, be it! We can discover and release our inner power by taking the time to engage in conversations of empowerment with self; or a frog! Reminders can be valuable in keeping us on track and out of our spin-zone of ‘action with no satisfaction’.
Have you set in place some of the dreams you had on your agenda for this year? If not, Ms. Frog says it is time to hop to it!
